1. Educational & Organizational Scope Only (Not Professional Advice)
All publications, workbooks, spreadsheets, checklists, newsletters, articles, and AI Companion prompts published by Forgotten Assets™ (TheForgottenAssets.com) are strictly educational materials for asset organization, documentation, and information clarity. They do not constitute legal, tax, accounting, financial, estate-planning, probate, appraisal, valuation, engineering, environmental, mechanical, or safety advice. Nothing in our materials determines legal ownership, entitlement, mechanical condition, dollar value, insurability, authenticity, regulatory compliance, or recommends a specific course of action. Always consult qualified, licensed professionals (such as an estate attorney, CPA, certified appraiser, or qualified technician) for questions outside educational documentation.
2. Physical Safety First: Observation Is Not Inspection
Do not open, move, lift, climb, plug in, power on, start, test, pressurize, or dismantle unfamiliar, heavy, or potentially unsafe assets, electrical panels, tanks, vehicles, or machinery in order to complete any Forgotten Assets™ worksheet or photo step. Record only what is safely visible from a standing position. If a nameplate, loft, cabinet, or outbuilding cannot be viewed safely today, mark Not checked. Leaving a question open is a complete and accurate part of a good record.
3. Source of Information & Factual Integrity
Every Forgotten Assets™ record separates firsthand observation from unverified memory using three exact classifications: Observed directly, Reported by someone (noting who shared it and when), and Not checked. Recording a family member's memory or perspective in a workbook or spreadsheet is for shared clarity only—it does not create, transfer, verify, or waive any legal or financial right. A blank field or missing record does not establish that something is absent.
4. Responsible AI Use & Data Minimization (Documentation First. AI Second. Human Judgment Always.)
The Forgotten Assets™ AI Companion is an optional formatting and organizational aid. AI has never visited your property and cannot independently verify facts, ownership, condition, safety, authenticity, or value. Never submit passwords, PINs, lock combinations, Social Security numbers, tax IDs, bank/financial account numbers, exact unguarded property addresses, or unredacted legal/financial documents into any consumer AI tool. Always review AI-formatted outputs word-for-word against your own primary notes and photos before transferring them into your workbook.
